Dear Powells,
In 146 days I will officially become a published author and this is what the cover of my debut book will look like. I wonder what it’s going to feel like to hold this book in my hands?! When it happens I will let you know, but for now let me tell you a little about MY BOOK.
“Charming and very funny.”
Dermot O’Leary ~ Author of series Toto the Ninja Cat, Radio & Television Presenter
Marty Moose has a wobbly bottom, loves jam sandwiches and HATES cheese. You are correct in thinking he is a mouse, and not a moose: an unfortunate accident with a blob of ink on his birth certificate led to him being named as a Moose.
It’s Marty’s first day on his new job as Postmouse. He’s ironed his uniform, polished his buttons and combed his whiskers; he's ready to go! But things take a tricky turn when he gets lost in Whisker Warren and needs rescuing by a doolally rabbit named Nibbles, and then gets caught in the crossfire of two less-than-neighbourly toads. Who knew postage could be so perilous!
Perfect for 6+ years, it’s highly illustrated in 2 colours and it was wrangled into shape by a truly formidable team at Walker Books (Gráinne Clear and Jamie Hammond). Additional wrangling (mostly emotional) was provided by my agent, Clare Wallace.
“Powell has created a miniature sized masterpiece.”
Laura Ellen Andersen ~ Author of the Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey series’
I have peppered this post with a few early reviews, they all exceeded my expectations (one or two may have made me cry, although I was stood near an onion at the time) and so I will end with one more, but not before I say, loudly and proudly, that:
🐭 Marty Moose First Class Mischief will be published on February 6th 2025! 🐭 Available for pre-order NOW.
“Brimming with the most delicious, stylish ink drawings.”
Sheena Dempsey ~ Author of Pablo and Splash
Yours, with a wobbly bottom,
Powell x
So excited for you! Congratulations! I’m not going to lie, I’ll buy one for myself. I don’t have little bitty grandchildren anymore.
It sounds absolutely delightful, Claire! I’m so excited for you! Congratulations!!!
