Dear Powells,

My second postcard in less than a week; don’t pass out with shock.

I am feeling very grateful. For the past 14 months I have been trying to sell my shared ownership flat. It has been one bewildering farce after another that, despite my best efforts, sucked the joy from me like an industrial hoover. But… yesterday, I finally got the call from my long suffering solicitor to say it had sold. I sat in disbelief for several minutes before I burst into tears. Then I rang her back to check I hadn’t misheard and—once she had confirmed it wasn’t a dream (or a prank)—I drank a glass of champagne (too quickly), ate some meatballs and went to bed at 9.11pm.

That seemingly never-ending nightmare has… ended!

Now it’s time for a new chapter, one which I plan to fill with joyful creativity.
