Ooh, I'm so excited to hear your plans for the Postcard Claire!

I love Ronald Searle's work, it's bonkers and anarchic but also so joyful! I have his book of wine-themed illustrations (There's Something in the Cellar..) and I can picture him drawing these whilst absolutely sloshed! 😆

Thanks, Emma. I’m on (another) deadline so I’ll be writing the first instalment soon. Did you know Ronald Searle drank champagne everyday? He said the bubbles helped him to think. There’s a great short clip of it on YouTube if you search, an interview he did for tv

Oh my goodness, what a legend 🤩 I'll search for that clip.

All the best with your deadline!

Hahaha. I have about 10 of his books, maybe more. I found a copy of A Christmas Carol that he illustrated in a local second hand shop and I assumed it would be £200 or more… it was £10 and I almost cried with joy and the shop seller thought I was deranged 😂

hahaha! What a TREASURE! Leaving that shop like you just pulled a heist!
